How Much Is Your Favorite Artist Worth?
Over on this I Love Music thread about this site that lists how much it costs to book specific touring bands, Al suggested someone should reorder the list by dollar amounts. I was just curious enough to do it.
The list was way too long to blog, but you can click here to download a massive Excel file with those artists ranked in order of how much it costs to book them.
If you had $50K to pay artists for a show, what would your bill look like?
Mine would look something like this:
The Stills ($15K)
Rx Bandits ($7.5K)
Andrew Bird ($7.5K)
Ted Leo ($6K)
Josh Rouse ($6K)
Mike Doughty (3.5K)
Imperial Teen ($3.5K)
Travis Morrison ($1K)
Spending pretend money is fun.

Ted Leo is so not worth 6K.
However, I would totally pay that much to hear/see you sing Ted Leo songs in a thong.
Make it happen.

Jedi Mind Tricks 5-7.5K
DJ Vadim 3.5-5K
Goldie 5-7.5K
Amon Tobin 5K
Rhymefest 7.5-10K
Pharaohe Monche 7.5-10K
Hate to say it, but my show rules so much over your show. I mean, for 50k, to have ‘fest, Pharaohe and Jedi Mind, with Amon Tobin, Goldie and DJ Vadim spinning? That works for me.
(Or you could get Lyrics Born in there, get rid of the trip hop DJs and have the X-ecutioners spin over the whole thing)

If I had 50K I would hire Wilco to pay 1 1/2 times.
